Automatic transmissions were also available-either the Powerglide (a 2-speed automatic) or the Turboglide (a continuously variable automatic). Although the El Camino wasn't the first vehicle to blend a passenger-car platform with the utility of a truck’s cargo bed, it was ultimately the most successful in the United States. The inaugural El Camino was introduced as the flagship of Chevrolet light-duty truck line. The first-generation GM version of the car-based pickup debuted on Octoas a new " 1959" model. Two years later, GM answered with the Chevrolet version, christened "El Camino" which is Spanish for "the road" (or "the way"). General Motors was left without an equivalent product, and not responding to the blue-oval threat simply wasn't an option. Relatively popular in the prewar years, car-based pickups had all but disappeared from the American landscape when Ford launched it's 1957 Ranchero in December 1956. The Ranchero was more car than truck (the reverse of the Cameo Carrier) and gave buyers the usefulness of a light pickup truck with the comforts (and familiarity) of an everyday driving car. Although not a big seller, the Camino Carrier, which never made a comeback, did inspire Ford to rethink the pickup concept and set the stage for it's Ranchero. Boasting V-8 power, automatic transmission, two-tone paint, and deluxe interior, the " 1955" Chevrolet Cameo narrowed the distance between car and truck. While it was stylish inside and out and turned heads, in reality it was a well-designed version of the Chevy Task Force generation of pickup trucks. They rolled out a specially designed and fancied-up version of their pickup truck to add style and comfort. In 1955, Chevrolet did something new and special.History of the El - 1958 Before the El Camino-the Cameo Carrier. The Cowboy Cadillac - History of the El Camino

![]() I like to dissect its parts before I see its sum, as it were. I not only like to watch films I love to study them. It’s one of those cool jobs that people are always asking me how I came to get. I have also shadowed professional operators and can now say that I am proficient enough to go out on my own when the need arises. My main job is to coordinate the rental of teleprompters and other related devices. It offers a wide variety of services here in Manhattan and across the country. I work for a film company whose main office is in Tribeca. I love the sea of people from all over the globe with such eclectic tastes appreciating what nature has to offer. The entire city is the most magical park I know and, I dare say, I will not apologize to Disney for that. There is something fresh and colorful in the air. New York in autumn is my favorite place to be. It had been so long since I’d experienced an actual season change that I almost forgot what it felt and looked like. I wasn’t sure I would like to live in the city coming from such temperate year-round weather. I moved here from the west coast about three years ago. Price: $645 Podium Teleprompter Delivered with a Professional Operator The Podium Teleprompter is available in NYC and Hollywood but can be shipped anywhere. A local operator can easily connect the device (it’s a professional camera monitor with HDSDI, BNC, HDMI, Component and Composite inputs). Note: As the Presidential Prompter is in two large rolling Pelican cases and the Podium Prompter is in one small briefcase, it’s cost effective to ship the podium prompter for venues where the budget is an issue or the local operator is not totally familiar with the more complex Presidential Prompter setup. ![]() The wires are dressed inconspicuously down the inside of the podium and over to the operator hidden offstage. This consists of a thin “high bright” professional prompter monitor placed directly on the podium. In that case we recommend a “Podium Prompter”. Now there are cases where in spite of the fact that the Presidential Prompter is virtually invisible, the speaker still does not want the audience to suspect that he/she is using a teleprompter. ![]() For example, our robotic prompter has served Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Nantucket, Newark, Atlantic City, Hartford, Westchester and The Hamptons. Having a stage hand run out on to the stage to adjust the height of each panel between speakers is not only unattractive, but also dangerous as there is a possibility of glass breaking and shattering. People come in different shapes and sizes, and oftentimes, the ideal height of a presidential stand is different across the board. ![]() This is a unit is particularly useful for live events with multiple speakers reading off of a prompter. We also offer the Rise and Fall Robotic Presidential Teleprompter. We recommend allowing our operator into the venue several hours before the start of the event so that he/she can work directly with talent to adjust prompter positioning and script fonts to their comfort. We have also prompted for A List celebrities and politicians including Beyoncé, Oprah, Alec Baldwin, Tina Fey, Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton. We are regularly called to the United Nations to prompt for visiting heads of state. This unit can commonly be found at conferences, award shows, presidential speeches (hence the name) and graduations. The speaker looks to the glass panels to read text, but the audience sees right through the glass, making it appear, from their point of view, as if there is no text on the glass that would obstruct their view.
